Item was as described---However, the mailbox had a DENT in in when it arrived. Did not send it back and worked our dent as best I could. Better packing could have prevented the item from having a dent when it arrived.Dan
My only reservation is the plastic latch and flag. This is a nice looking black mailbox that I think will last a long time. However, the latch is very substantial, apparently made of plastic similar to that of which automotive bumpers are made. The steel of which it is constructed is not a soft steel. It appears to be high-carbon like spring steel. Despite that fact, I managed to break one (if it had been steel, it would have broken or badly bent) by getting too close with a tractor lug while grading the road. I called Solar and they sent me a free replacement within a week.
This is a standard mailbox, nothing special. It's not made of thick material and it's not really stout, but it works to get mail. Unfortunately the flag is made of plastic.
I had to beat the dents out of it. I could tell by the packaging that it was damaged before it was shipped.
My female Mail deliverer left a note in my new mailbox thanking me for the new box. It certainly came in handy for the small packages and extra catalogs we receive prior to Christmas. I recommend it to anyone who is currently getting their mail crammed in a normal size mailbox.Note: Prior to purchasing I had looked online for a box with metal flag and clasp but could not find one for a reasonable price. So far this mailbox is working out just fine.
